Students at many international schools in Hong Kong, as well as UK boarding schools, are required to take the GCSE or IGCSE exams. These exams, administered by exam boards like Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge International Examinations, are crucial in determining students' A-Level choices and admission into sixth form colleges. In 2017, the grading system was updated to1-9 grades instead of A*-G for each subject.
